Over the years, Spanish furniture has been strengthening its presence in all the Gulf Region. Exports to United Arab Emirates, which ranks 15th among main Spain’s furniture purchasers, increased by 6,1% at the end of 2011, totaling 14,1 million euros. Figures for the first 2012 trimester confirm this upward trend. Among the top 20 destination markets for Spain’s furniture exports, there are also Saudi Arabia, that ranks 12th with purchases amounting to 23,2 million euros, and Qatar that in 2011 imported Spanish products for a value of 10 million euros, showing an increase of 54,7% over 2010 figures.
The participation of MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA at INDEX, the major event of the MENA region for the furnishing sector, responds to this positive trend and to the possibility of sourcing out new trade opportunities for Spanish brands. Dubai is at the moment the regional trading hub and gateway to the rest of Middle East. With spending on interior design and hospitality fit-outs on a constant rise, EAU and the GCC consolidate themselves as one of the main target of the Spanish furnishing industry.
Over the latest years Spanish furniture companies have been working on major projects in all the MENA area, decorating VIP mansions, luxury hotel and restaurants, main corporative offices and VIP lounges at airports.
