The Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters (ANIEME) has just released the Spanish furniture foreign trade report for the first semester of 2018. Figures reveal that, during this period, Spain’s exports of furniture have grown by 2.5%, exceeding 1,074 million euros. Another positive result for Spain’s furniture industry, which closed 2017 registering an encouraging growth of its exports (+2.4%) in many different markets. Exports of Spanish furniture keep on increasing to traditional European markets (France, Portugal, Germany and UK) as well to other continents, mainly across the pond, to the U.S.A. and Mexico. According to the CSIL World Furniture Outlook 2016, world furniture production is worth more than US$ 400 billion. Around 35% of the value is exported, whereas 65% is consumed in the countries where production takes place. CSIL furniture consumption growth for the years 2017 is about 2% in real terms with higher increases in Asia and North America, modest growth in Europe and a decrease of furniture consumption in South America.

More than 200 companies on stage at main events (Imm Cologne, Maison & Objet, I Saloni Milano &  Moscow, ICFF New York, Index Dubai, etc.), a significant participation of Spain's furniture sector in trade missions all around the world and new showrooms opened in main cities have led to a significant increase of Spain's furniture exports (+12.6%),  with other interesting insights.

Valencia is Finalist city to be the World Design Capital in 2022

The Spanish city of Valencia will compete against Bengaluru (India) to be the next WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL in 2022, with a bid defined by the slogan "The Mediterranean design of Valencia.
