The NIX chair from CAPDELL has received in Germany the RED DOT Award 2019 in the Product Design category. This design by Patrick Norguet has recently obtained the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2018, granted by the International Museum of Architecture and Design of Chicago.
The RED DOT Award is one of the most important design awards in the world, recognizing the quality and innovation of designers and manufacturers in the creation of new products.
The GOOD DESIGN AWARD has recognised for the past seven decades the best examples of design at all levels and last year distinguished the innovative vocation of the design of NIX, which combines the use of solid wood with curved plywood 3D spherical geometry.
The NIX chair from CAPDELL combines technical and aesthetic innovation together with the handmade production of this line of furniture. This piece represents a meeting point between the technical avant-garde and an artisan and iconic design from which emanates a unique identity, with light and pleasant curves on a fine and dynamic structure.
Its shape adapts to all types of spaces, creating a polyvalent and elegant furniture, made of quality materials giving the NIX chair a unique personality with different finishes and colours.
The 3D spherical geometry bending technique allows us to overcome the limits of traditional curved plywood, which extends the field of geometry and unleashes the creativity of the designer.
The flexibility of the lines, derived from the wood in three dimensions, enhances the comfort of the backrest and the seat while the meticulous assembly of each piece of wood favors its robustness and durability. In this way, a chair is created with style and with the advantage of creating a feeling of comfort to all those who decide to enjoy it.
Since it was founded, CAPDELL, a design company specialized in the manufacture of high-joinery wood furniture, has been involved and committed to the culture of the project, incorporating into its catalog products of accredited professionals from different design disciplines. Thus, among its extensive catalogue features pieces designed by designers and architects such as Carlos Tiscar, Claesson Koivisto Rune, Edeestudio, Fiorenzo Dorigo, Fran Silvestre, Francesc Rifé, Gabriel Teixidó, Kazuko Okamoto, Lucy Kurrein, Marcel Sigel, Mario Ruiz, Patrick Noguet , Rafa Ortega, Salvador Villalba, Vicent Martinez, Vicente Soto and Yonoh, among others.
