Spanish furniture manufacturers in force to Brunei

Last May a group of Spanish high-end furniture manufacturers – AMBOAN, MARINER, OFITA and TECNI NOVAmoved to Brunei to take part in a B2B with architects and interior designers organized by DAT-CO, the most renowned quality furniture establishment in Brunei Darussalam. Let’s dig in…

On May 5, DAT-CO opened its new showroom entirely dedicated to European luxury furniture. In a meeting with local media, George Cheong, Dat-Co founder, explained the reasons behind his decision to transform DAT-CO in into an all-European furniture showroom: “Starting from May 5, we will only be offering products made in Europe – mainly from Italy and Spain. The transformation is undertaken to serve the Bruneian market with finer furnishings at an affordable price. There will not be anymore China-made products in our showroom.”

At the seminar, which was held the day previous the opening ceremony in the two-storey showroom in Bunut, interior designers and architects witnessed a presentation of products by Dat-Co’s European partners.

For the Spanish group, Jorge Mariner of MARINER made a short description of his brand, pointing out that “the finishing and the use of bronze on our products are some of our strong points”, as reported by the local magazine The Brunei Times.

Juan Carlos Muñoz, the General Manager of TECNI NOVA and President of the Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters (ANIEME) presented TECNI NOVA’s ranges of top-quality one-of-a-kind classical and contemporary classical furniture collections, highlighting their fabric portfolio with thousands of new options for home and hospitality sectors, from precious leathers to the trendiest and most eye-catching tapestries, curtains and wallpapers.

Among the invited guests at the opening ceremony there was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Education, and his spouse and a number of loyal clients and foreign diplomats, such as e Mr Joseph Koh, the Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei with his spouse, and Mr Nan Sy, the Cambodia Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam.

The collaboration between DAT-CO and the Spanish luxury brands is important because the showroom serves not only the local market but also the neighbouring countries.
