Spanish furniture trade: January – September 2013 report

    December 5 / 2013

More than 200 companies on stage at main events (Imm Cologne, Maison & Objet, I Saloni Milano & Moscow, ICFF New York, Index Dubai, etc.), a significant participation of Spain’s furniture sector in trade missions all around the world and new showrooms opened in main cities have led to a significant increase of Spain’s furniture exports (+12.6%), with other interesting insighs.

With the exception of Italy, whose imports of Spain’s furnishing products dropped by -19.7, Spain’s exports of furniture have increased to all the other top tep importers: France, Portugal, Germany, United Kingdom, Russia, The Netherlands, the U.S.A., Morocco and Saudi Arabia.

The rank of destination markets reveals also a clear trend towards the diversification of main clients, with emerging countries gaining prominence against mature markets. The trend is not accidental, but rather the fruit of the stronger promotional campaigns carried out both by companies individually and public institutions and associations, such as ANIEME, the Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters (www.anieme.com).

Plans for the next year are even more challenging, with large contingent of Spain’s brands exhibiting at international fairs, more trade missions to emerging countries, market research and new promotional actions all around the world.

The journey keeps on going! Stay tuned…
