SANCAL refreshed LA NAVE, its historic showroom in Belgium

Starting from April, contemporary design fans, interior designers and professionals of the furniture sector can have a first-hand look at SANCAL’s latest collections in a fully renovated, unconventional setting: LA NAVE, a 1,000 sqm exhibition space in the shop of Sancal’s agent in Aalst, Belgium. Located in Aalst, Belgium, LA NAVE reproduces the same simple, understated aesthetic of Sancal’s new successful showroom in Madrid, El Garaje. In La Nave’s interior design, the exposed red brick walls and the natural floorboard of the original building are enlivened by the subtle bright green accents of the lighting pipes and graphic elements and by Sancal’s new design pieces, all of them upholstered in the brand’s signature colours.

Wondering about the meaning of LA NAVE? Well, the term has been chosen because of its several meanings that relate well to the space: a warehouse or factory; a sailing boat and a church’s nave. All these associations are suitable for many reasons: for over a century, the building itself housed an old yarn factory; in the latest two decades it has been Sancal’s flagship showroom in Benelux; and last but not least, the new store will turn certainly into a cult space for all the aficionados of good designs.

LA NAVE is a perfect setting for SANCAL’s latest collections, such as the intriguing GRAFICA, or the natural TIERRA and the vibrant FLASH.

Launched at I Saloni Milano 2014, GRAFICA conveys Sancal’s passion for illustration and its respect for the discipline of graphic design. Although they were designed independently, the new products are versatile and work well together. They can be used to create fresh, vibrant spaces at home, at work, in restaurants and hotels.

GRAFICA includes also TARTANA, a suspended acoustic shade designed by Nadadora Design Studio for meeting rooms. Among the other design items, there are also SILLA 40, another creation of Nadadora for the brand, the REW sofa-bed by Rafa García, the COLLAR armchair by Skrivo, the BARNABY sofa and armchair by Perrine Vigneron and Gilles Belley and the PERIGALLO stool, an original in-house design that fit perfectly modern lifestyles.

Located in Yecla, Murcia, SANCAL, which is a leading brand of contemporary and designer furniture, has celebrated this year its 40th anniversary. For the occasion, they commissioned young artists, such as Ricardo Cavolo, Agostino Iacurci and Zosen, to paint large wall murals throughout the entire production site.
