Since 1996, Spain’s main furniture producers have invested in the Salone as a privileged showcase for promoting new collections, meeting international clients and make new contacts. Their offer has always been one of the most diverse and has surprised visitors and professionals for the distinct indoor and outdoor atmospheres and the high standards of product presentation.

Over the latest years, Spain’s exports of furniture have seen a positive trend positioning an increasing number of Spanish brands as key players of the international interior design industry. In 2018, exports of furniture increased by 4.8% to 2,215 million euros, an encouraging result considering the geopolitical context and the new trade barriers on the horizon. On one side, France consolidates as the main foreign market for Spain’s exports of furniture (+11.8%), followed at a distance by two other traditional markets for Spanish products: Portugal (+7.8%) and Germany (+7.2%). On the other hand, despite Brexit turbulences and Trump’s unpredictable foreign trade policy, the U.S.A. and the UK have gained positions as Spain’s top trading partners and they now rank 4th and 5th respectively, registering significant increases in purchases of furniture from Spain.

Exports to Italy, which ranks 6th, grew by 8.5%, amounting to 88.2 million euros. Sales to Morocco and Mexico, which rank 7th and 9th, increased by 14.1% and 2.4%, respectively.

The presence of Spanish top-notch brands at the Salone is not only due to the promotion of market-ready products, but also to a strategy aimed at strengthening their presence in a larger number of countries and sectors: hospitality, retail, corporate, restaurant, bars etc.
