CALMA – Hall 8 Stand B35
The Catalonia-based CALMA, which received the Red Dot: Best of the Best 2015 Award for the OM sun shade, showcases in Milan a selection of its latest successful products in new intriguing configurations.
Designed by Andreu Carulla, SENYORA is an innovative seating system, that gives a new, intriguing twist to the traditional beach recliner. It consists of a fabric with flat inserts in its interior that shapes the seat and the back of the chair. This combination of fabric and inserts, which is at the base of the SENYORA system, is easily adjustable to different frames without any fastening element or mechanism. It’s that simple: with just a few movements, you stretch the fabric over the structure and you soon can configure three different chair models: SENYORA PEPA, SENYORA LOLA or SENYORA MARIA.
DORM, the modular sofa created by SerraydelaRocha for CALMA, has been updated improving aesthetics and functionality. DORM is now available with the armrests and backrest upholstered in a rhomboid-shaped capitonné.
Fabrics include the Chartes by Sunbrella in 2 colours, the Carbon, the Pewter and the Silvetrex fabrics in two colours, Ice and Carbon.
Impermeability has been improved as well: a PVC layer has been added to the inside of the acrylic Sunbrella fabrics while seams are thermally sealed for extra resistance to water.
The OM sunshade will be presented with the new configuration that integrates a circular-shaped table. To maximize functionality, the table is adjustable in different heights.
GANDIA BLASCO – Hall 20 Stand B01 – C06
An international key player of the outdoor decoration, GANDIA BLASCO is back to Il Salone with tow stunning proposals that integrates perfectly with different environments: from private gardens and terraces to large scale contract applications.
With the structure made of anodized or powder coated aluminium, DNA is the new refined, compelling outdoor furniture collection designed by José A. Gandia-Blasco for the 2016 Catalogue, which is totally inspired by the Homer’s Odyssey and the travel through the Mediterranean Sea.
DNA draws inspirations both from the subtle interplay of light and shades created by the typical Mediterranean shutters and from the aesthetics of the shadow as understood in traditional and contemporary Japanese architecture: the positive and the negative free from any superfluous ornament. The result is this amazing line of furniture that reinterprets the essence of these horizontals geometries while giving great elegance and style to contemporary outdoors.
It is available with the anodized finish or in a range of colours that include white, sand, bronze and the anthracite. The seating and the backrests are made of polyurethane foam upholstered with water-proof fabrics.
A design by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos, the BLAU tree is the new addition to the homonymous outdoor furniture collection. As a tribute to Mother Nature and the pleasant Mediterranean environment, BLAU is more than simply a light: it transcends its geometric design with aluminium branches that project lines of indirect lighting, creating an exceptional ambience for living magical moments all around the year.
With an extruded aluminium profile, this stunning sculptural outdoor accessory come equipped with a LED light source and is available in white, sand, bronze and anthracite.
KETTAL – Hall 20 Stand E24
Strongly committed, since its beginnings in 1964, to innovation and design, the Catalonia-based KETTAL is a worldwide reference of indoor & outdoor décor.
In Milan, they will put on display a handpicked selection of their latest most successful collections, some of them in a new configuration to suit trends and changing tastes. But always with a main aim: blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor.
Born from the need to provide outdoor environments with smart high performance furniture, the BOMA collection, designed by Rodolfo Dordoni, comes with a new textile upholstery that is every bit as nice as that of interiors. The new sensual, textured outdoor fabrics of the TERRAIN collection by Doshi Levien provide BOMA with a warm and cosy feeling that allude to KETTAL’s tradition for calm and timeless design.
The new TERRAIN paints and TERRAIN fabrics have been used to reconfigure the KETTAL MESH collection that has also been extended to include left and right corner modules, a central module and a bench; all of them amplifying the number of possible combinations and compositions. A dining table and a coffee table have also been added with top available in marble, wood and aluminium.
Designed by Patricia Urquiola, KETTAL MESH combines natural and industrial materials, hard and soft surfaces, transparent and solid volumes that contribute to create attractive contrasts. The bending armrests lend delicacy to this industrial structure while inviting users to sit back and relax. The solid wooden base and the ample, comfortable upholstery evoke the cozy sensations of a living room that have been moved to the outdoors.
Equally suitable for indoor and outdoor use is STAMPA, the new aluminium-made armchair that mark a new collaboration of the Spanish brand with the Frend duo Ronan & Erwan Boroullec.
POINT – Hall 10 Stand E22
With strong Mediterranean roots, POINT has extended its beautiful catalogue of outdoor furniture with new designer models enriched by new textures, colours and materials, such as the natural teak (A-grade), the Shintotex fibres in new colours and the weather –resistant fabrics (Sunbrella, Batyline, Serge Ferrari, Texyloop…). Among them, the new collection of the Spanish Francesc Rifé: ROUND, HAMP, PUL and the BUT chairs in both a combination lacquered aluminum and teak or only in lacquered aluminium.
The new 2016 Catalogue 2016 includes also an update on the successful collection ROUND, designed by Francesc Rifé. Now, the synthetic fiber SHINTOTEX®, that comes in combination with natural teak, features a new colour: ivory white. Thereby, round, square and rectangular dining tables, as well as, coffee and occasional tables, dining chairs, barstools, sofas and armchairs, are all available in two different weaving colours: multicolour (grey and cream) and ivory white.
Ivory white is also the new colour introduced in the ARMADILLO swinging chair by the Mexican Joaquín Homs. Available with or without base.
POINT has made a big step forward in 2016 by launching a new outdoor rug collection, all of them created by Spanish designer Francesc Rifé. Aesthetics and functionality combine perfectly in this collection that includes three rectangular models (LYS, RAY, YAR) and a round one (ROD). The originality of the design is reinforced by the use of Twitchell Textilene, a high performance outdoor yarn that guarantees a high resistance.
RESOL – Hall 12 Stand A09 – B10
With more than 50 year of experience in the furniture market, RESOL was the Spanish company that produced the first chair totally injected in polypropylene. Today it designs, manufactures and commercializes a wide range of furniture under the brands RESOL GARDEN, RESOL CONTRACT, BARCELONA DD and VILAGRASA.
As a new launch, RESOL will unveil in Milan the TOLEDO AIRE chair, which is a new version of one of the icon of Spain’s design: the TOLEDO chair, a creation of Argentinian designer Jorge Pensi (1986) which has been honored over the years with the 1990 Design Center Stuttgard Award; 1988 "Delta Plate" award of ADI FAD; and Sidi Selection, first place, in 1988.
Jorge Pensi’s designs are outstanding for its expressive and minimalist character, always evoking sensations but with minimal resources. The new version, which is suitable for both contract and domestic ambiences, will come injected with polypropylene and fiberglass, featuring also UV protection.
In Milan RESOL will also present its new BOSS chair, a creation of the Catalan designer Joan Gaspar for the brand.
Clearly inspired by the classic director’s folding chair, it transmits comfort, wellbeing along with a dose of modernity.
BOSS is made of plastic injected in polypropylene with fiberglass with the seat and backrest covered by a single piece of Textilene Batyline Iso fabric (Serge Ferrari). It is perfect for outdoor and indoor use and is available in different sizes and colours.
Recently, the GINA chair by Joan Gaspar and the KAT collection by Josep Lluscà have been shortlisted for the Premios Delta 2016, oprganized by Adi-Fad.
SKYLINE – Hall 18 Stand C21
A worldwide key player in the hospitality sector, SKYLINE DESIGN manufacturers stylish contemporary outdoor furniture in collaboration with prestigious designers, such as Adrian Nagel, Noel Royo Senjo, Belén Burguete, Santiago Sevillano and the US interior designer Dann Foley.
At this edition of I Salone, the firm launch CLEO, an exclusive creation by Belén Burguete inspired by the traditional basketwork. Made of synthetic fibers, lacquered aluminium and upholstered in nautical fabrics, CLEO is an outdoor furniture collection that comprises sofas, three-pieces suites, coffee tables and corner tables. STRATTA – Hall 10 Stand D10
Ergonomics, functionality and endless possibilities. The Spanish STRATTA offers a wide range of soft furniture for both indoor and outdoor contract projects. Created from coated foam, this unique composition gives extra comfort to all the pieces manufactured by this Zaragoza-based company.
In Milan the firm puts on display all its creative verve with the new designs by the Jorge Herrera Studio, POINTER and STONE. Made of coated polyurethane foams, they are two versatile lines of soft furniture specifically designed to create original compositions in public or private spaces, indoor or outdoor: casual chat spaces, collaborative areas at work, intimate corners and even stackable walls.
