The FRAMES armchair by Jaime Hayon for EXPORMIM was awarded with the important German Design Awards 2016 in the category Excellent Product Design for Furniture. This recognition will be publicly announced during the award ceremony that will take place on the 12th of February 2016, in the German City of Frankfurt.

The FRAMES armchairs is definitely the best known item of the collection signed by Jaime Hayon, one of the most renowned Spain’s creative mind in the international design scene, for the Spanish EXPORMIM.

All EXPORMIM’s products have a strong identity and exude a Mediterranean flair, two features that are widely present in the design philosophy of Hayon. With FRAMES, the designer went even further giving a completely new twist to former EXPORMIM’s production in rattan. He achieved to add a sense of glamour to the rustic charm of this material, that is flexible, durable and versatile enough to inspire new creative uses.

Narrated through Jaime Hayon’s eyes, a new chapter has been added to the EXPORMIM’s ancient tale about craftsmanship and tradition. This way, tradition and innovation melt into a new approach that turns outdoor furniture into a hybrid which penetrates and blends perfectly with indoor spaces. What was once a seasonal story can now be told all year round, and even more intriguing turns of events have been added to this contemporary classic tale.

Formerly launched at the 2014 edition of I Saloni Milano, the FRAMES family consists of an armchair, coffee tables and a room divider. To maximize the comfort and its natural warm feel, leather cushions have been added to armchairs and benches.

Today, thanks to its charm –a mélange of rusticity and understated elegance– and to its simple yet sophisticated aesthetic, the FRAMES collection is expected to become a contemporary classic. As the recent prize proves…
