With just a week to go before the beginning of the 2017 edition of Feria Hábitat Valencia, the event, which will be held from the 19th to the 22nd September and will bring together more than 400 exhibitors, is shaping up to be an impressive design showcase. It will play host to an amazing array of inspiring, intriguing and influential furniture and lighting products that pay homage to design, emerging talents and traditional as well as contemporary crafts.
Here we highlight some of the most important events inside and outside the fairground:
Nude + ÁGORA NUDE (Main lobby)
Nude is the space dedicated to emerging designers, while the Ágora is the space aimed at hosting talks and lectures on design, architecture and culture. This year, lead speakers will be Spain’s famous National Design Awards Miguel Milá and Mario Ruiz that will give a talk about “Design geared to delivering solutions” on Wednesday 20th September.
Ágora will also be hosting other big names of the international design scene such as the Argentinian architect Diego Gronda, who specializes in large projects, and Latin American professionals Guillermo Acosta, Sandra Gómez, Adrián Rosado and Enrique Gómez de la Torre. The agenda is completed by the talks by industrial designer Aitor García de Vicuña, architect and digital communication expert Jorge Consuegra, designer Javier Pastor and architect and artisans Millán Garrido and Maribel Femenía.
ADCV EXHIBITION ZONE (Main Lobby)
This exhibition is being represented graphically at Feria Hábitat Valencia, with the full version staged in Las Naves exhibition space (Carrer de Joan Verdeguer, 16, Valencia). Curated by More With Less and produced by La Galería Estudio in collaboration with Frinsa, the exhibition brings together the best of design from the Comunitat Valenciana in 2015 and 2016 and will be open throughout September.
HÁBITAT GASTRONOMY ZONE (Hall 3)
Professionals visiting Feria Hábitat Valencia will have the opportunity to enjoy the best of Mediterranean cuisine in an exclusive gastronomy zone, set up as a complement to Feria Valencia’s standard catering facilities.
VALENCIA DESIGN WEEK (City of Valencia)
The events taking place within the Feria Valencia venue will be complemented by a number of activities scheduled to take place throughout the week in the city of Valencia under the ‘Valencia Design Week’ umbrella. Organised by the Association of Designers of the Valencia Community (ADCV) and running from 19th to 22nd September 2017, the programme includes a range of events relating to design and creativity. As co-ordinator, supporter and promoter of the programme, the ADCV is a voice for the design sector in the city.
There will be a number of other themed areas across Feria Valencia for visitors to enjoy. One is being curated by software developer ACA España and is dedicated to the latest advances in software designed specifically for the interior industry. On the other hand, trade associations (ANIEME, furniture, and FEDAI, lighting) will host in their stand in the main entrance lobby (stand 7) talks and meetings with professionals of both sectors.
Companies’ events will include:
CAPDELL SOLIDARITY EXHIBITION, TEODORA FOUNDATION (Main entrance hall)
To mark its 50th anniversary, Capdell is taking its SIT, THINK…PLAY solidarity exhibition to Feria Hábitat Valencia. The exhibition was commissioned and designed by Carlos Tiscar and Salvador Villalba with proceeds going to the Theodora Foundation, a charity of specialised giggle doctors, highly trained to work in both the hospital and hospice environments, and with children with disabilities.
As an occasion to meet friends and establish new relationships, on 20th September at 21:30 the company will also give a party in the amazing Coven Carmen space (Plaza Mosen Sorell 3, Valencia). A wonderful occasion to laugh, dance and toast together (assistance should be confirmed).
ACTIU MEETING POINT (Hall 2 Stand D10)
Actiu, which was recently awarded the National Design Prize, will be hosting a series of meetings with and talks by designers and other industry professionals. The firm's stand will be the venue for a number of talks relating to innovation and design such as those set to be given by Éxito, RED and Miguel Angel Julià (Nuklee) about new business models in the retail sector.
A number of lectures are also due to be delivered there including one by Muriel Altunaga of architectural consultancy CBR, one on colour and trends by Darío Arévalo and another by Rodrigo Martínez about the identity and positioning of Brand Spain.
