FAMA SOFAS, rising to fame in China

Love at first sight can sound as the title of a popular movie or song, but it was actually the feeling experienced by the audience present at the inauguration of FAMA’s second showroom in China. And this is just the beginning of a love story with a long way to go… Let us tell you a little more…

After the opening of the first Fama’ s flagship store in Fuzhou in July – that followed the others in Mexico DF, San Diego, New York, New Jersey-, FAMA embarks in a new adventure that will lead to the opening of 20 new FamaLiving sofa stores in the short-run.

We were already present on the market through our distributor Blue Morning, that by the way represents in China big Italian, French and UK brands, such as Fendi, Giorgio Collection, Moissonier, Cantori, Kartell, just to name a few”, explains Félix López Gil, CEO and Art Director at FAMA. “After a collaboration of more than 6 years, and given the interest aroused by our products in Beijing, they suggested that we extend our presence in China’s main markets through a network of FamaLiving stores. And we accepted…” says Félix.

The inauguration ceremony of the second Chinese FamaLiving store took place on 1st October and it was a resounding success. FamaLiving Tianjin has a total surface of 300 sqm and is located at the Easy Home Shopping Centre, a commercial mall completely dedicated to home furnishings and interior design.

The new store displays some of our most iconic and successful sofas and armchairs, such as the Arianne Love with the newest fabric configurations”, says Maria Angeles Ferrero, Export Manager at FAMA. “Asian consumers are great aficionados of our products. They are very keen on those models that feature curved shapes and colourful upholsteries. It won’t be that difficult to turn them into real FamaLovers!”, she explains.

The ceremony was followed by a presentation that was held on the 6th of October in the lobby of the mall and saw the participation of numerous key players of the local and national furniture market. Félix López made a speech introducing the brand, its philosophy, commitments and achievements all around the world.

We perceived a lot of interest around Fama and its sofas. They were really attracted by the eye-catching designs, but what really intrigues them most was our commitment to create product aimed not only at people, but also at their families and friends; at their social lives, in a few words”, explains Félix.

I dare say that our slogan Sofa to enjoy at home, which is by the way the core of our business philosophy, has met the target. They were literally fascinated by the mix of aesthetic, comfort and ease of use of our sofas”, he points out.

First FamaLovers in Tianjin...

Another important issue is the Made in Spain factor”, adds María Angeles. “They associate Spain with positive emotions: joy, colours, easy—going lifestyles, the sun… They really love our country and were surprised to learn about a brand and a product that evokes all that feelings”.

Alea jacta est. The dice are thrown, and from now on the FamaLovers form a big international community, with no borders and no limits to creativity!
