ECUS launches the ICON line with new, charming designer sofas and armchairs
A specialist in mattresses and other sleep products, every now and then ECUS likes wowing its international clientele with new exciting proposals that make the most of the sleeping and resting hours. As the new ICON collection that includes the attractive ZANIAH sofa-bed and the VEGA armchair by Teresa Sapey and the elegant CARMELA armchair by Carmen Barasona. So, read on and prepare to bring out your inner fashionista…
Eye-catching fabrics, elegant shapes and fabulous designer creations, the new ICON collection is indeed a new challenge for the dynamic ECUS. Crucial has been the collaboration with two renowned Spain-based designers, Teresa Sapey and Carmen Barasona, who by the way are also architects and interior designers. This has led to products that have a strong visual impact and yet they are extremely comfortable and functional. No wonder that they can be used at home or for contract projects. Let’s have a deeper insight…
ZANAH sofa-bed by Teresa Sapey
Times when a sofa was used only for seating are gone forever! In big cities, space is the new luxe and apartments tend to reduce their dimensions. Multifunctional furniture plays here a great role and ZANAH, the new creation by Teresa Sapey for ECUS, has achieved to harmoniously blend function and design.
Just as in a puzzle, a corner sofa can easily turn into a comfortable double bed (180 X 200) with backrests that can be raised to convert into a headboard. On the other hand, arm rests can be folded and you soon have a small bedside for your alarm clock!
But it’s not over yet! For extra functionality, the pouf conceals a storage unit, so you can have things like cushions, pillows, bed linen or even magazines at hand but out of sight.
ZANAH rests over a black-lacquered metallic frame which is quite invisible and lends visual lightness to the whole.
Fabrics and piping can be chosen in different colours to personalize the look and create intriguing contrasts.
VEGA armchair by Teresa Sapey
Inspired by the Spanish meadows landscape, as its name suggests, the VEGA armchair is all about soft lines and gentle curves. Tradition is another source of inspiration, as the U shaped seat is a clear nod to medieval Castilian chairs.
Nevertheless, VEGA is a completely new product that reinvents the traditional armchair through some smart aesthetic solutions. Curved lines play a key role and are smartly highlighted by the streamlined piping in contrasting colours. Focal points and the soft buttoned back are emphasized by cross stitches that bring fun and set an immediate playful, casual mood in ambiences.
The seat shell sits on a wooden structure with crafted turned legs locked into frame.
VEGA is complemented by a pouf, which shares the same features as the armchair, and a kidney cushion that can be chosen in different contrasting colours for an extra cool touch.
The armchair is available in three different sizes (XL, M, U) and in a choice of different vibrant fabrics. Surely the best for a brilliant visual statement at home!
CARMELA armchair by Carmen Barasona
For a true, original lounge experience, choose the CARMELA armchair, a new design by Spanish interior designer Carmen Barasona for ECUS. Drawing inspirations from midcentury designs, such as the Lady armchair by Marco Zanuso, and from the public transport seats of the 60s, CARMELA is a gorgeous combo of pure, polyhedral lines and enveloping shapes.
The high backrest has been specifically designed to maximize comfort and ergonomics, from seat to head. Legs are made of oak and ash wood with golden alumimium shoes for a more elegant statement. On demand, they can also be lacquered in colours that match the upholstery.
The charming appeal of CARMELA is enhanced by an almost sartorial attention to details, such as the option of upholstering the inner and exterior sides with different, even contrasting, fabrics or colours. Topstitch matches perfectly the inner upholstery while the exterior is covered in a perfectly stretched one-piece fabric without stitches.
CARMELA is perfect to create focal spots and to provide the right amount of style and comfort at home or in public spaces.
Don’t shy away from the really vibrant shades and play with colours and textures to create your own, personal armchair.
