Downtown Design Dubai, an unmissable platform for Spanish design brands

Taking place in partnership with the Dubai Design District (d3) and the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (DCAA), the fifth edition of Downtown Design, which will be held in November 14 to 17, consolidates itself as Middle East’s leading design event for high-quality furnishing products, strengthening its position as the main platform of the region for the interior design industry.

The show, that will host 150 brands from 25 countries, maintains its renowned approach to quality and relevance in selecting brands. Aimed at providing both the industry and the public audiences with new products, trends and inspirations, it will put on display a carefully curated selection of established and emerging brands that are specialized in a wide variety of product categories, from furniture to lighting, to textiles and accessories.

The 2017 edition has doubled the size of previous editions registering an increase in the number of brands across all the categories, with an outstanding 90% retention of key brands, each one returning with fresh concepts for the market.

Buyers, retailers, interior designers and architects can expect a cluster of renowned international brands and references to headline the fair, including a group of 8 Spanish brands that will exhibit under the brand MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA.

The Spanish contingent, organized by ANIEME (Spanish National Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters) and with the support of ICEX (Spanish Foreign Trade Agency), will include brands such as LUXDEMOB, KETTAL, POINT, SANCAL, SANTA&COLE, SKYLINE DESIGN and VONDOM.

They will present unique products across a range of categories for the residential, hospitality and commercial markets.

The constantly evolving landscape of the Middle East brings a world of opportunities for Spanish design brands that wish to unlock their potential in the Middle East interior design market and establish new collaborations with the region’s architects and interior designers.

The hospitality sector is thriving as well with 164,497 rooms in 574 hotel projects under contract in the Middle East, according to STR’s September pipeline report. According to with ESTACOM statistics for the period January to June 2017, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar rank among the main markets for Spanish furniture brands, positioning 11th, 18th and 19th respectively. In the same period, exports to UAE have increased by +13.9% totalling approximately 11 million euros.
